Three Regional CDS Chapter Adult Amateur Competitions will be held each year. There will be one in the North, Central and South regions as defined in the CDS Standing Rules.
Required Classes include two divisions:
Elite Adult Amateurs for riders that have competed in a CDS Championship Show.
Novice Adult Amateurs for riders who have never competed in a CDS Championship Show.
All competitors will ride once at the highest test of the level.
This competition will feature Training Level through Fourth Level classes. A total of 10 classes will be held in each of the 3 regions, north, central and south.
Eligibility:
Amateur Riders must be current members of CDS and must have a USEF Amateur Card. (USEF Amateurs cards are available to anyone without being required to join USEF).
The horse owner must be a current member of CDS.
Qualification is for an amateur rider and horse combination.
Qualification period: will be cut-off date to cut-off date. In 2008, because of the start-up of this new program, all scores received on or after September 3, 2007 will be qualifying. Final date to qualify will be close of business 30 calendar days prior to the show date. The last day to qualify MUST be prominently advertised by the HOSTING Chapter.
Amateurs that qualify MAY compete in ONLY ONE Regional Competition, either North-Central-South.
Qualification scores must be earned at CDS recognized or *** recognized shows and are as follows:

A stipend of at least $500 will be provided to the hosting Chapter(s) to defray local costs.
The registration fee can be paid at any time during the show year up to close of business on the last qualifying day for the Regions’ show in which the amateur will compete.

Qualifying for the CDS Championships
The CDS Championship Show will be held October 9-12, 2008. The location will be Los Angeles Equestrian Center, Burbank CA. The CDS Futurity will be held in conjunction with the CDS Championship Show. In order to qualify for the CDS Championships you must be a current CDS member. You must be a member in good standing at the time you earn your qualifying scores. Scores must be earned during the current show season. The CDS Central Office automatically records scores earned by members during the current show season at CDS recognized shows. It is recommended that each competitor keep his own yearly show record to verify against CDS records at the end of the show year. The qualifying dates are from September 1, 2007 to August 31, 08. Open Division: Open to all competitors. Adult Amateur Division: Open to competitors holding an USEF Adult Amateur card or who are 22 years and over of age. Juniors and Young Riders must enter the Open Division and qualify with Open Division scores. You need to declare your division at the time you enter the Championship Show.
